Many people think of Christianity as a complicated religion, when really, its very simple. It’s like this…

In the beginning there was God. God was alone. God created human kind for his enjoyment and his glory, he wanted to be loved! Unfortunately, sin entered the world and everyone did not love God, they wanted to live on their own, make their own decisions, and live for themselves. To human’s disgust, God commanded them to love Him, otherwise they would be destined for hell. The people who did love God knew that they would always need to ask forgiveness for their sins by offering burnt offerings to the Lord. God was pleased by this. Over time, the world grew colder and colder, turning away from God more and more. As it says in His word, “there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God (in their sin nature.)” But not all was like this, there was one man and his family named Noah. Noah loved God and was faithful to him.

God decided to destroy the whole world and start over again, sparing Noah and his family, along with two of each species of animals. Throughout the Old Testament, Christians were sacrificing animals to be forgiven of their sins. All the while, the Old Testament authors prophesied that a Savior would come into the world, as a perfect human being, yet still the Son of God and be sacrificed for all, He was the one sacrifice made for all sins, of the past, present and future. The people no longer needed to sacrifice their animals for God’s forgiveness because God was pleased when He gave His only son. And only Jesus, the Lamb of God could have taken that place, only a perfectly blameless being, by blood, be sacrificed for all. Only Jesus could save us from the wrath of the Father.

So there he was, brought into the world by the virgin Mary. Raised in the church, became a great Teacher at the age of 12, and followed the profession of carpentry after his earthly father, Joseph. Jesus performed miracles, signs and wonders. Raising people from the dead, causing the blind to see, making the lame to walk, Jesus was the Messiah- foretold by the Old Testament prophets. There were people who hated Jesus, scared of this peculiar person with some kind of magical power, proclaiming that he was actually the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus had 12 followers…. Bartholomew, Andrew, John, Phillip, Thomas, Matthew, James, James, Simon, Simon Peter, Judas and Judas Iscariot.

Jesus was always teaching and encouraging the disciples, helping them to understand the will of the Father through His Son, preparing them for His departure. As Jesus grew older, the hatred of the Romans grew more and more, wanting to kill Jesus. Jesus warned the disciples, telling them that the time would come when He would not be with them in flesh but in Spirit. As the night came, Jesus and the Twelve Disciples gathered for the “Last Supper.”
Matthew 26:23-75

Jesus then said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me." The disciples then became very sad, asking him, “is it i?” Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born." Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?" Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."

27Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28This is my blood of the[b] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom."

30When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:
" 'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'[c] 32But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
33Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will."

34"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times."

35But Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the other disciples said the same.

Gethsemane
36Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." 37He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."
39Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

40Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. 41"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

42He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."

43When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

45Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"
While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him." 49Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.
50Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for."[d]

Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51With that, one of Jesus' companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

52"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

55At that time Jesus said to the crowd, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. 56But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.
Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. 58But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.
59The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. 60But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward.

Finally two came forward 61and declared, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.' "

62Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" 63But Jesus remained silent.
The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ,[e] the Son of God."

64"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."

65Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. 66What do you think?"
"He is worthy of death," they answered.

67Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him 68and said, "Prophesy to us, Christ. Who hit you?"
Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. "You also were with Jesus of Galilee," she said.
70But he denied it before them all. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said.

71Then he went out to the gateway, where another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth."

72He denied it again, with an oath: "I don't know the man!"

73After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, "Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away."

74Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!"

Immediately a rooster crowed. 75Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Matthew 27:1-54
Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people came to the decision to put Jesus to death. 2They bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate, the governor.
3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood."
"What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."

5So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." 7So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. 8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."
Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
12When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?" 14But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.

15Now it was the governor's custom at the Feast to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. 16At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas. 17So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?" 18For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.

19While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."

20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.

21"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor.
"Barabbas," they answered.

22"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.
They all answered, "Crucify him!"

23"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

24When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"

25All the people answered, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"

26Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.
Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. 30They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

32As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. 33They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). 34There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.[b] 36And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. 37Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 39Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads 40and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"
41In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42"He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, 'I am the Son of God.' " 44In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. 46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi,[c] lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"[d]
47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."

48Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."

50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son[e] of God!"

After the death of Jesus, the disciples were very sad. Jesus was buried in a tomb. Three days later some women, friends of Jesus, approached the tomb, finding it only to be empty with an angel where Jesus was laid.

Matthew 28:5-10
5The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

Matthew 28:16-20

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Jesus came, lived 33 years and died on the cross to fulfill all the Old Testament promises, to save us from our sins, from all the sins of the world. Now there are only two things left for us to do:
Repent of our sins (repentance is given by God alone) And Have faith and follow Him (faith is given by God alone)à unless you have faith you are destined for hell. Pursuing Christians possess Christ, obey God, love everyone and glorify God in all they do, meanwhile always repenting of their sins and asking for forgiveness, always taking up their cross.

Christians are in the world, but not of the world. We are the chosen, the lights in this world of darkness and sin, enslaved by Satan. Our eyes are always set on the prize set before us: Heaven. Our joy is in Christ alone, our satisfaction is in Christ alone. The world and the things of the world only last a day compared to eternity, so why not live for something everlasting? We exist to bring glory to God by maximizing every moment, every breath, ever opportunity for His glory (hope you don't mind me putting that in there! hehe)- telling all the world of the gospel, no matter what the cost, no matter how big the persecution becomes. We are the body of Christ, and Christ is the eternal and everlasting center of our lives. We are a powerful, strong, passionate, willed Body living for one thing only, glorifying one thing only, loving one thing only… Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God, GOD, the Holy Spirit, Maranatha, Emmanuel, Alpha and Omega, Author and Perfecter of our Faith, Bread of Life, Great Shepherd, Great High Priest, I Am, Rabbi, the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE.

Romans 8:38-39
38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is the greatest Love Story ever told, this love will never end. Please, choose life!

The entire gospel revolves around the center:
The life, death & resurrection of Jesus Christ.

.sin. a small word but a huge obstacle

Today i'm writing on sin. This past weekend my youth group had Winter Camp at our church. Saturday night my youth pastor spoke on Sin according to Hebrews 3:12-14. So I'm going to repeat what my pastor said and also expand on it with my own words.

Hebrews 3:12-14
12See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.

The obstacle of sin:

• Know what damage sin seeks to do, in our lives, in your heart

• We can understand sin's strategy (Genesis 3)

There are four points about sin's strategies...

  1. Sin is deceitful.

  2. Sin causes you to doubt what God has firmly said.

  3. Sin makes promises that it cannot keep.

  4. Sin always makes itself look attractive.

______________________________________________

Sin is Deceitful.

"...Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"..."

Satan here was questioning what Eve actually thought God actually meant when He said, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'

Sin Causes You to Doubt What God has Firmly Said.

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

God said if you eat the fruit of the Tree of Good and Evil you will surely die. Satan was not lieing when He said you will not die (instantly). And he was not lieing when he said their eyes would be opened and that they would be like God, knowing good and evil. To know good and evil is know what is right, to know what is pleasing to God and at the same time, to know evil is to know what sin is, and what the penalty of sin is.

Sin makes promises that it cannot keep.

To Eve, the fruit looked delicious and tasteful, promising satisfaction to her tastebuds, but eating the fruit Adam and Eve brought a curse onto themselves, their family, and every single generation after that. Taking one bite of that fruit, the fruit of which looked pleasing to the eyes and pleasing to the mouth, changed the whole world until the end.

Sin always makes itself look attractive.

Again, this fruit on the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, though Eve knew she was not supposed to take from it... the temptation of Satan, the desires of the flesh, the unfulfilled promise of the fruit, and the feeling that made the taste more important that her obedience to God caused her to sin against God and even caused her husband to fall into the same sin along with her which then brought the curse of being forbidden from the garden of Eden forever.

As a teenager it is especially hard to not give into temptation, to not give into sin. Temptation can sometimes be an overwhelming power in our lives. With sex, drugs, alcohol, fame, and fortune surrounding it is often hard to avoid the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the lust of the pride of life.

1 John 2:15-17

15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Now, as christians, we do have the power to overcome any obstacle of sin. We, by the power of the Holy Spirit can resist giving into temptation.

Lust of the Flesh.
Man is possessed by a nature that is characterized by its fleshliness: its appetite, desires, cravings and passions. Satan appeals to those desires of the flesh. With Eve, she saw the forbidden fruit was good for food. When Satan tempted the Lord Jesus, his first proposal was that he turn stones into bread to satisfy his hunger.

Lust of the Eye.
The second sphere which characterizes the nature of man is indicated by the phrase "the lust of the eye." Satan appeals to the sense of seeing and awakens desires through the eye. What we see we desire and covet, and then we attempt to obtain it for ourselves. Man is basically covetous or selfish by nature and Satan seeks to lead one way in temptations through the lust of the eye. Satan took Jesus up into the high mountain and offered the power and glory of them to him if he would worship him.In the case of Eve, she saw the forbidden tree and fruit was pleasant to the eyes.

Lust of the Pride of Life.
The third gate through which Satan seeks to enter into the life of an individual is the realm designated as "the pride of life." Pride is characteristic of human nature. Man is basically proud and there are sins that appeal to pride. The fallen nature loves and strives for that which promotes, elevates and pleases the individual. Eve in the garden saw that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, of which they were forbidden to eat, was "a tree to be desired to make one wise." The appeal of Satan was to all three lusts and then she took and ate of the forbidden fruit in transgression against the commandment of God (Gen. 3:6).

Please know that it is not a sin to be tempted. There is a difference between being tempted and sinning. Everyone is tempted. There are temptations all around us, and they are normal and to be expected. The big question is this: What will I do with the temptation? It is not a sin to be tempted, but yielding to evil temptations leads to sin.

Where do temptations come from?

They come from Satan.

The devil loves to entice people to do wrong and to lead them into what is sinful and wrong. (2 Corinthians 11:3, Revelation 12:9)

They come from my own sinful heart.

We must not always blame Satan every time we fall into sin! The real problem is with our own sinful hearts! (James 1:14)

They do not come from God.

God does not want to see us sin, He wants to see us win! We have a faithful God who wants us to overcome the temptations (1 Corinthians 10:13). We do not have a God who tries to make His children do evil. God allows temptations to come our way, because He wants to TEST US and see if we will trust Him to help us to overcome these temptations. Every temptation that comes is a wonderful opportunity to trust God for victory and to learn that God is always FAITHFUL!

When I Fall Into Sin

When you fall down, get right back up (Proverbs 24:16). Don’t stay down; get right back on your feet! Confess your sin! Forsake this sin! Learn from your failure. God can teach us many important lessons even from our times of failing and falling. If a fish feels the sharp hook once, it may be a little slower to bite the worm the next time!

When I Have Victory Over Sin

When you conquer the temptation, BE CAREFUL! (1 Cor. 10:12) This is true of all of us. We are strong to face temptation when we are depending deeply on God. When we are surest of ourselves, we are also shakiest. The moment you think that you will never fall--WATCH OUT!

God "allows" us to be tempted by our spiritual enemies, yet even at the same time giving us the graces necessary to resist. Take heart from Paul's writings to the Corinthians and know that God is faithful. While God permits us to experience temptation, it is never more than we can manage. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."

Eph 6:13

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of Elohim, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Patience is important! Don't be discouraged. Others gone before us have made it, why can't we?

James 1:12

12Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

In Christ,

•¸·°making friends with the mirror°·¸•

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Yeah i know you're thinking, more advice on dating? Yes, it is :) But to accept these awesome guidelines, you don't have to be broken-hearted, you don't have to be a teenager, or someone just looking for guidance in their love life... you just have to be human being :) And though you may not need these "rules" right now, they will be extremely helpful in years to come. (prefferably for girls, but guys can check it out too!)

•Today's entry is more based on how much your relationship with Christ reflects into your relationships.

• 2 Corinthians 3:18
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

When you look into the mirror, what do you see? A friend or a foe? Are you thankful for God's creation or critical of His handiwork? How much time and energy do you spend critiquing and criticizing your facial features? your hair? your body? Do you compare yourself to magazine cover models or to your girlfriends, getting discouraged that you don't seem to measure up to everyone else?

What you see in the mirror has a lot to do with what you feel in your heart. Perhaps you look into the mirror often because you do like what you see- a lot. Maybe you believe that others don't measure up to you. Perhaps vanity and pride are more of an issue for you than a poor body image. I

I certainly hope that neither of these scenarios describes you. I hope you like what you see in the mirror because you are one of God's beautiful creations, but i also hope that you don't let your beauty go to your head. Somewhere in between "I hate the way i look!" and "Look at me! Aren't I hot?" lies a delicate balance that i pray you will find and maintain throughout life. Why is this so important? Because either extreme can lead you down the path of sexual compromise at lightning speed.

Painting a New Picture of Perfect Beauty

Wher does our society get its ideas about what makes a girl beautiful? Sharon Hersh, author of "Mom, I Feel Fat!" sat down with twenty-five middle-school-aged girls and asked them to describe the perfect girl. Their responses, in order of importance, were as follows:

•thin

•blond

•popular

•beautiful

•athletic

•has big breasts

•has a boyfriend

•confident

•straight white teeth (no braces!)

•has her own car

•doesn't have zits

I agree with Sharon- the only one we know who fits that description is Barbie. It's amazing how a childhood toy can mold a young girl's ideas about where beauty comes from. I think i echoe the heart's cry of many young women when i say this:

As growing up, the reflection in my mirror looked increasingly more like my family's genetic features than Barbie. I felt so betrayed by my own body becayse it didn't grow into the shape I thought it should be.

Many young women grow up with unrealistic expectations about their bodies. It's not Barbie dolls that create these false ideas of beauty. So do television celebrities, movie stars, magazine cover models, fashion designers, and many other aspects of today's pop culture.

But wher does beauty really come from? Let's go back to the Bible to see what the Creator of beauty has to say about where it comes from and how we are to use it.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears [respects and serves] the LORD is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:30)

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. (1 Peter 3:3-5)

Do these scriptures say that we shoudn't style our hair or wear nice jewelry or clothes? Of course not. The Bible simply says that this kind of beauty fades and can't be depended upon. These verses are good reminders that physical beauty isn't going to last forever and that our primary focus shouldn't be on our outward beauty. However, the beauty that comes from loving and serving God with a happy heart is a beauty that endures even when your figure has fallen south and wrinkles adorn your face. True beauty doesn't come from fresh makeup, the latest hairstyles, or how you look in your blue jeans. Rather, it radiates from the inside out, from a heart that delights in the LORD.

Here's another verse to consider:

So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was fine flour, honey and olive oil. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen. 14 And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign LORD.
15 " 'But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his. (Ezekiel 16:13-15)

The prophet Ezekiel was referring to Jerusalem in this passage and used this analogy to say, "Hey! You've taken the spiritual beauty that God gave you and served gods with it! You're doin whatever you want to instead of being an example to other nations!" I believe this passage also has a message for you today. God says (through Ezekial), "The splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect." In other words, perfect beauty comes as a gift from the Lord to all who believe in Him, not from flawless skin, bleached teeth, or size zero jeans. God still bestows beauty on us- spiritual and physical beauty- so that we can bring glory and attention to Him as our Creatore, no to ourselves. We are to trust in Him for the things we want (such as attention and affection in healthy relationships), not in our physical beauty. Such will eventually fail us, but God never will.

When we forget that beauty comes from a heart that loves God, we assume that beauty comes from a body that looks a certain way. What is your body doesn't look like the image of beauty that you have in your mind? What effect can that have on your self-image and your relationships?

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting -- a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing."- Ralph Waldo Emerson

•His Glory Defined: Part 1•

His Glory Defined: Part 1•
by
Courtney MacLellan

Lost [lawst, lost]
-adjective
having gone astray or missed the way; bewildered as to place, direction.

Luke 15:3-7
Then Jesus told them this parable: 4"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' 7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Me, My Life, And I.

A Little Bit About Me

First of all, i am a jESUS fREAK! (Officialy!) lol, my non-christian friends think i'm insane!... And i love it. I live in a small town where my dad pastors in a Baptist Church. I have two sisters, a mom & dad and a dog. Oh, and i'm 14 years old. I'm NOT one of those wishy washy teens who just claim to be a christian, i really am one! And i'm livin it out loud! I just wish there could be so many more opportunities to share the gospel. I homeschool, so all the more i look forward to seeing my friends at church, youth group & bible study.

I became a christian when i was 3 but about a year ago i was really hurt by one of my best "friends" and i became very very depressed, I tryed to avoid everyone because i thought i would never meausure up to anything "they" expected me to be. I would constantly put myself down because i felt it was my fault that my friends were going astray. Then someone came into my life and from then on my life has been nothing but happiness-filled. This special someone doesn't think he's so special but i know he is, I love him so much. And he, too, is wandering astray from Christ.

But now, instead of being depressed and trying to take things into my own hands, I'm offering it all to God. From the time i was depressed till now you wouldn't believe how much i have grown in Christ, it's incredible to have the Holy Spirit working in me and seeing myself love Him more each day. I feel so much stronger, and could not be this way without all the help and encouragement from my friends, my pastor and most importantly, Christ. Everyday is a huge struggle, trying to run from the tempation of being depressed and feeling sorry for myself. Most of the time i'm bored here in the ol' house with no friends and nothin to do, but i guess it would drive me crazy if i was busy all the time. I like to hang with friends, but thats practically impossible when ya don't have good friends. So yeah, my time will come... someday. To God be the glory. All i am i owe to God, i can take no credit for how blessed i am.
There's more to come about Me, My Life, and I... i just don't have a lot of time right now!

Love y'all,

In Christ Alone,

Courtney♥

•.Some of My Favorite Quotes.•

"When you are arguing against Him, you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all."

-C.S. Lewis

"The climax of God's happiness is the delight He takes in the echoes of His excellence in the praises of His people."

-John Piper

Two men looked out from prison bars; one saw mud, the other saw stars.

While we may not be called to martyr our lives, we must martyr our way of life. We must put our selfish ways to death and march to a different beat. Then the world will see Jesus.

[Michael Tait]

If you want your body, mind, heart, and spirit to remain pure, strive for God-gratification instead of self-gratification.

They thought they were putting Him in His place... But they put Him in mine.

For My Boys♥

Okay, guys, can i offer you a little fatherly advice? If God has brought someone special into your life, then you should be thankful for her and treat her in a way that honors the Lord.

Here are ten key points for you to consider.

1. Treat her like the treasure she is.

-Speak gently to her and treat her with kindness.

-Put her interests before your own (for example, listen to her when she wants to talk).

2. Bring the Lord into you relationship.

-Pray for her and dedicate the time you spend together to the Lord.

-Talk to her about spiritual things and tell her you want to honor Christ in your relationship.

3. Respect her parents.

-Always greet them and show them respect.

-Don't call too late at night. (You might ask when it is too late to call- probably after 10:00 P.M.) When you do call, say something like "Hello, Mrs. Anderson. This is Mike, May I please speak to Bridget?"

4. Talk with her.

-Communication is very important to girls, so let her say whatever is on her mind.

-Try to put into words what you're thinking and feeling; she'll love that.

5. Compliment her.

-Encourage her in the things she does well.

-On a regular basis, tell her she looks pretty.

6. Protect her reputation.-Never make up stories about what you've done with her.

-Speak respectfully about her to others, emphasizing her good qualities.

7. Never put yourself in a vulnerable situation.

-Don't be in a house alone together or cuddle under blankets.

-Don't plan on making out. (Try to get the physical stuff out of your head.)

8. Concentrate on BEING the right person rather than FINDING the right person.

-Be honest, reliable, and kind.

-Understand that God will use your dating partner to help you become more like Christ if you let him.

9. Realize that honoring God is more important than satisfying you horomones.

-Remember that lust looks after what it can get; love looks after what it can give.

-Set rules about your physical relationship and stick to them.

10. Let her be herself, but always point her to Christ.

-Let your words and actions build her up, not tear her down.

-Don't try to change her, but rather change yourself to be more like Christ.

.Guard Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World.

For My Girls♥

Girls, it's so easy to believe lies about yourself. You may be pretty but feel ugly. You may have nice things but feel empty. You may think so poorly of yourself that you run to find a sense of significance in a young man's arms. It can be tempting to give yourself away to gain a feeling of security. But you keep forgetting the truth:You are a PRINCESS! You mean everything to your heavenly Father, and he wants you to be treated with respect. Read the following ten points and keep in mind that they are worthy guides because you are a daughter of the King!

1. Find your significance and security in God, not in a guy.

-Guys will let you down. (If you don't believe me, just wait.)

-Guys cannot fill the void that God designed to be filled by Him alone.

2. Realize that true beauty begins on the inside and works its way outward.

-Your heart is more important than your body.

-All the make-up, clothes, and accessories in the world can't hide an insecure heart.

3. Don't compare yourself with cover girls; you'll lose every time.

-It's not fair to compare yourself with a model who gets her pictures professionally airbrushed.

-Learn to accept yourself for the unique person you are.

4. Be careful about how you dress.

-Guys are turned on and led astray by what they see. Help them, don't hurt them.

-Look the best with what God gave you, but don't show too much.

5. If your father is absent or neglectful, be careful not to run to guys too quickly.

-When dad is missing from your life, it can be easy to get involved earlier and deeper with guys.

-Take it slow with the guys; you'll probably be close to one of them for most of your life.

6. Respect yourself.

-Never accept verbal or physical abuse.

-Draw a line for how far you will go physically- and stick to it.

7. Don't punish yourself for relationships that don't work out.

-Remember, your timing is not always God's timing. Trust him even when you don't understand.

-God's grace is more than sufficient for our weaknesses and mistakes.

8. Don't expect guys to totally understand your feelings and problems all the time.

-Let's face it, a lot of times guys just don't get it. Give them some slack.

-Building up a guy in your mind will lead to disappointment.

9. Build a relationship with your mom or another older woman.

-Remember, your mom was a teenager once too! She is probably eager to talk to you about the things going on in your life.

-If you aren't able to talk to your mom about things, be intentional and prayerful about finding and older woman who will listen and talk to you.

10. Understand that the decisions you make now will leave a lasting mark on your life.

-No matter how hard you try, you can't turn the clock back.

-You will never regret honoring God in each area of your life.

.Guard Your Mind, Heart, and Body in a Sex-Saturated World.

Repentance, Salvation and God’s Eternal Covenant

•.The Bible contains the record of mankind's rebellion against God, and God's plan for restoring that broken relationship. The story begins in the opening chapters of Genesis with God creating Adam and Eve as the culmination of creation. They were created in His own image, and enjoyed an intimate fellowship with the Lord. When the first humans disobeyed, that fellowship was broken and the sentence of physical death was brought upon mankind. But though Adam and Eve were expelled from Paradise, God made provision for them to live, procreate, and maintain a relationship with Him.

Isaiah 59:21

"As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and forever," says the LORD.

Isaiah 61:8"For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity. In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them.

Romans 11:27

And this is my covenant with them When I take away their sins.

"Romans 2:4

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?

Jeremiah 32:40

I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.

Ezekiel 16:60

Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.

John 6:44

"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Galatians 5:19-23

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

James 2:14-26

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. 20You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,"[b] and he was called God's friend. 24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. 25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Matthew 3:8

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.

Acts 2:38

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 3:19 19

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Acts 11:18

When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life."

Acts 17:30

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

Acts 20:21

I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

Acts 26:20

First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

Acts 2:36

"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Acts 5:31

God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

Election

Ephesians 1:1-12

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus,[a] the faithful[b] in Christ Jesus: 2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he[c] predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9And he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. 11In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

Matthew 20:16

So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

John 6:44

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day

Acts 22:14

And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth

Romans 9:11

(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth

Romans 9:14-18

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 17For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

Romans 3:10-12

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Acts 13:48

When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

•2 Timothy 3:14-17•

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a] you learned it 15and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17that the man of God[b] may be competent, equipped for every good work.
I hope this encourages you in your walk with the Lord, my prayer for you all is this...
Malachi 4:2
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.

Friends Don't Let Friends Go to Hell

Friends don't let friends go to hell.

•.ღ.♥?Do I reflect who You are?♥.ღ.•

Bible thumper, jesus freak, brainwashed, don't know how to have fun, don't understand, too religious, church girl, don't know how to live, wasting your time, don't make sense, it's pointless. If you're a christian you probably have heard one of these comments or have had them said to you. Just know you're not alone, and these people who say these things to you aren't worth your tears. ________________________________________________

...........Matthew 10:24, 25............

Here Jesus warned His disciples that there would be some name-calling. Not everyone liked or agreed with Jesus and not everyone will like or agree with us. Some violently disagreed with Jesus and thought they are serving God in their efforts to destroy Him and His disciples.

.............Romans 8:30-40................

30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."[a] 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

____________________________________________________

"When you're speaking to the lost, u must remember that u are not selling them a 'fire insurance' policy, but a 'new life' policy." As Christians, we know there is new life in Christ, if a person genuinely repents and trusts in the Savior. But the Scripture instructs us to "save with fear, pulling them out of the fire" (Jude 23) and the words of Jesus -- "Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28). So which is it? Do we tell sinners to "flee from the wrath to come" or to "come to Christ for a new and improved life"?"New life," biblically speaking, is eternal life in Christ, not a flowery promise of life improvement here on earth. The gospel is glorious. It directs our gaze off of us and onto God, who humbled Himself, demonstrated His great love by suffering a cruel death on a cross to save us, adopts into His family those who believe, and transforms us. This is the beautiful gospel that brings life to the dead and changes us from the heart. So if we want to bring this kind of "new life" to those we love, we must do it biblically or risk losing them forever. If we genuinely care about others, we must strive to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and preach the one and only, true gospel. Not "fire insurance" and not a "new life" policy, but the old, old, gospel and nothing else. Make sure you bring the knowledge of sin by opening up the Commandments like Jesus did (in Mark 10, Luke 18, etc.) and remind sinners of the Day of Judgment when every person will have to give an account of his life to God. Let godly fear "work repentance" and the good news of the gospel bring them to saving faith in Jesus Christ.==========================================

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

Do They See Jesus In Me? Can you hear me? Does the world know what I have to say? Hopefully so someday. It is my passion and great desire that I will leave a legacy seen by many, a heart felt by all, and wisdom known to the entirety of mankind... It is my passion to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ my Lord throughout the nations. Hear my heart's cry and my prayer for this life... it's time we, the chosen, SPEAK! They will feel our love and witness our deeds, yet how can the hear if we don't speak I am who i say i am. Accept it.

Now I want to show all the world who You are
The reason I live and breathe
So You'll be the One that they see
