two thousand & eleven: recap

This past year has been full of changes, challenges and countless opportunities of growth both in photography and in my personal life. I'd like to recap what I've been through this year, as a way of reminiscing.
  • January
8th: First huge snow dump of the season!

29th: First time cutting dad's hair, & have done it ever since!

End of semester! In January- February I prepared for my last ever English & Social 30-1 diploma exams. My two favorite core courses with the best teachers I could have asked for. It was bittersweet!

  • February

The first Friday of February I began my work experience at the Cutting Edge hair salon in Elk Point! So thankful for the opportunity! Every Friday from 1:00-6:00p.m. I shampooed, cleaned & washed towels.

18th: Got my very first claddagh ring as an early birthday present!
The Claddagh's distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown).
  1. When worn on the right ring finger with the heart pointing to the fingertip, the wearer is free of any attachment.
  2. On the same finger but the other way round, with the heart pointing away from the fingertip, it suggests someone is romantically involved.
  3. When the ring is on the left hand wedding ring finger, it means the person is married or engaged.[1]

20th:
Decorated my first cake with fondant all by myself- and ended up with a terrible back ache for a couple weeks, but totally worth it!

22nd: Received my diploma marks! Me: happy!

22nd: My photoshopped creation was accepted for Rick Mercer's Photo Contest on his website.
I did Gilles Duceppe!

  • March1st:
Began my blog posts on "The 20 Days of Winter"

20th: First day of spring AND my 19th birthday! Celebrated with two of my very best friends- couldn't have asked for a better birthday!

  • April
27th: Had the privilege of photographing individual portraits of my entire grad class in preparation for the graduation ceremony! Here is a group shot of some of the guys:

29th: Witnessed the union between Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge on live television. Such a beautiful time in history!
